Terms of Use

Last updated 9 October 2026

Not legal advice. I Kept It is in early access and this document was drafted by its developers, not by a lawyer. It describes honestly what the software does today. Have it reviewed before relying on it.

01Agreement

These terms apply when you use I Kept It at ikeptit.app, including joining the waitlist. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

02Early access software

I Kept It is in early access and under active development. Features will change, break and occasionally disappear. We may suspend or discontinue the service at any time.

Do not rely on I Kept It as your only record of a purchase. Keep your original receipts.

03Consumer Guarantees Act estimates are estimates

This matters more than the usual boilerplate, because the whole point of I Kept It is telling you about your rights.

The Consumer Guarantees Act does not specify fixed time periods. It requires goods to last as long as is reasonable given their type and price. Our coverage figures are our own estimate, calculated from the product category and what you paid. They are a starting point for a conversation with a retailer, not a legal determination.

A retailer, a disputes tribunal or a court may reach a different conclusion. I Kept It does not provide legal advice, and nothing in the app is a substitute for it. If a claim matters to you, get proper advice.

The same goes for claim letters we draft for you, including through an app you connect: they are templates, not legal advice, and you decide whether and how to send them.

04Automatic warranty registration

By adding a product, you authorise us to contact the relevant manufacturer or retailer on your behalf and give them the details set out in our Privacy Policy.

We cannot guarantee a registration succeeds. Companies change their processes, ignore emails, require accounts we cannot create for you, or reject registrations for reasons we never see. We show you the status of every attempt so you can follow up yourself where it matters.

05Accuracy of what you give us

Our AI reads your receipts automatically and sometimes gets things wrong. You are responsible for checking the extracted details before relying on them, and for making sure you have the right to upload what you upload.

06Acceptable use

Use I Kept It for your own household products. Do not upload anything unlawful, attempt to break or overload the service, use it to send unsolicited mail to companies, or access anyone else’s account.

07Your account

You are responsible for activity under your account. You can close it at any time by emailing us. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

08Liability

I Kept It is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it, including a missed warranty deadline, a failed registration, or a rejected claim.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act or the Fair Trading Act where those Acts apply to you.

09Governing law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
