01What does it cost?
I Kept It is free during early access. Adding products and keeping your receipts will stay free. We’d rather you catalogue your whole house, because a half-finished inventory is no use to anyone when something breaks.
02Do you really email manufacturers as me?
Yes. To register a warranty we send your name, email address and the product’s details to the manufacturer or retailer. You are copied on every message, so you always see exactly what went where.
Once sent, that information sits with them under their privacy policy, not ours. If you would rather a particular purchase stayed private, don’t add it. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
03Who can see my receipts?
Only you. Receipts are held in private storage and can only be opened through your signed-in account, and we check the receipt belongs to you before returning it. There is no public link, and nobody else can retrieve your files.
04Who else might see my information?
The manufacturers and retailers we register your warranties with, as described above. We don’t sell your information to data brokers and we don’t use it for advertising.
We may later add insurance features, such as valuing your contents cover using the inventory you have already built. If we do, your details go to an insurer only when you choose to use that feature, and we will tell you what is being shared first. Nothing goes to an insurer because you signed up. The full list of who processes your information is in the Privacy Policy.
05Is the AI going to get my receipt wrong?
Sometimes, yes. Faded thermal paper and crumpled receipts are genuinely hard. Everything extracted is shown to you before it is saved, and you can correct any field.
It improves with use: once I Kept It has learned a retailer’s receipt layout, it recognises that format directly rather than re-reading it from scratch.
06Are your Consumer Guarantees Act dates official?
No, they are estimates. The Act sets no fixed periods, so we calculate a reasonable expected lifespan from the product category and what you paid. A retailer or the Disputes Tribunal may take a different view.
It is a starting point for the conversation, not a ruling. More on how the Act works in your CGA rights.
07What can I upload?
Receipts, invoices, warranty cards, and photos of a product’s model or serial label, as images or PDFs. Anything that isn’t a purchase or warranty document is declined, because I Kept It is a warranty tracker rather than a photo library.
08Can I delete things?
Yes. Deleting a product removes its receipt file and its registration history, and frees the storage it was using. You can also ask us to delete your account entirely.
The one thing we cannot undo is information already sent to a manufacturer. Once an email has left, it has left.
09Is this only for New Zealand?
New Zealand and Australia. Both judge how long goods should last by what is reasonable for the type and price, so I Kept It estimates cover under the Consumer Guarantees Act and the Australian Consumer Law. Receipt capture and warranty tracking work anywhere, but elsewhere we track the manufacturer warranty only and make no legal estimate.
10Is there an app?
11Who is behind it?
A small New Zealand team. Reach us any time at hello@ikeptit.app.
