About

Built for the day something breaks.

I Kept It keeps the receipt, the dates and the warranty paperwork for everything in your home, so when something fails you know where you stand and can prove it.

01Your rights outlast your warranty

In New Zealand the Consumer Guarantees Act says goods must last as long as a reasonable person would expect. For a fridge, a heat pump or a sofa, that is often years after the manufacturer’s warranty has run out.

Most people don’t know this. Those who do are usually told by the shop that they’re “out of warranty”, and leave it there.

02The receipt decides it

Having the right isn’t enough. To use it you need to show what you bought, where, when and for how much. That’s a faded thermal slip in a drawer, or an email you deleted three years ago.

I Kept It exists so that paperwork is never what stops you.

03What it does

You snap a receipt. We read the product, brand, price and date from it, register the manufacturer’s warranty where we can, and estimate how long your consumer-law cover should reasonably run. Then we remind you before anything expires.

The estimate is a starting point for a conversation with the shop, not a legal ruling. We say so wherever we show one.

04What we believe

Your data is yours. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and you can see it, get a copy of it or delete it at any time without paying.

The law usually already covers you. Extended warranties are a big earner for retailers, often for years the Act already covers. We would rather tell you that than sell you one.

Be accurate, not reassuring. If a warranty has expired, we say so plainly. If you still have cover under the Act, we say that too, and show how much is left.

05Where it works

I Kept It is built in New Zealand for New Zealand homes. It also supports Australia, where the Australian Consumer Law applies the same kind of test. Anywhere else we track your products and warranties, but we don’t estimate legal cover, because applying one country’s rules to another would be confidently wrong.
